Dr. Priya Desai, MBBS, MS (Ophthalmology), Fellow in Cornea & Refractive Surgery, is a distinguished Cornea and Refractive Surgeon, serving as the Medical Director and Head of the Cornea Department at the Desai Group of Eye Hospitals. Renowned for her expertise, she specializes in managing complex corneal and anterior segment conditions and is highly skilled in advanced corneal and refractive surgeries.

She earned her MBBS (2006) and MS in Ophthalmology (2009) from Pramukh Swami Medical College, Karamsad, Gujarat, followed by a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Chennai (2010). Additional training in DMEK at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, further honed her skills.

Her illustrious career includes tenures at esteemed institutions such as Desai Eye Institute & Research Centre, Desai Surgical & Eye Hospital, and Shree Narayan Eye Hospital. Internationally, she contributed to patient care at Mombasa Eye Hospital, Kenya, gaining valuable experience across diverse healthcare settings, from tertiary hospitals to community-focused clinics.

A passionate advocate for community welfare, she has performed keratoplasties in Kenya in collaboration with Cornea Help, Germany, and organized numerous surgical and diagnostic camps around Vadodara. In addition, she leads the J.V. Healthcare Trust, Vadodara, which supports underserved communities.

An accomplished speaker, she has delivered over 30 impactful presentations at prestigious forums, including AIOC, AGOS, Keracon, and IIRSI. Her work has earned several accolades, such as the Sutanshu Mathur Award at Uttara Eyecon 2021 and multiple awards for innovative surgical videos and case studies. Recognized as a thought leader in ocular diagnostics and therapeutic keratoplasty, her insights are widely respected.

As an innovator, she designed the ERS Lite imaging device and developed AIM 1.0, an anterior segment imaging system. Beyond her medical career, she is a trained dancer and an active member of the Shaurya Air Foundation, where she helps special children explore dancing and singing. She also serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Baroda Ophthalmic Society.

In recognition of her contributions to ophthalmology, she has been invited as a faculty member at IIRSI 2024. Combining clinical expertise, community service, and innovation, she is a beacon of excellence in her field.
